Kylie Minogue has been revealed as the latest star to lend her voice to a charity single to raise money to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The Australian singer will join forces with a host of stars reported to include Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Take That, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry on the charity cover of REM’s Everybody Hurts.
Funds raised by the single, which was spearheaded by Simon Cowell, will be split between charities the Disasters Emergency Committee and Helping Haiti/ Medicins Sans Frontiers.
Kylie is no stranger to using her singing talents to raise money for those in need.
In March last year, the 41-year-old helped raise over AUS$5million at a charity concert for those affected by the devastating fires and floods in her home country of Australia.
Her latest philanthropic venture comes after an earthquake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter Scale, hit Haiti last week – killing as many as 200,000 people and injuring countless more.
Kylie also has a link with Cowell after appearing on The X Factor last year alongside sister Dannii Minogue, who is a judge on the singing show.
Speaking about the decision to launch a charity single, Cowell, 50, told the Mail: ‘We have a short time to do this and the people in Haiti need as much help as we can give them, as soon as possible.
‘I’d like to make this record with as many different types of singers as we can and I hope everyone in the industry comes together to get involved.’
